Junior/Intermediate Environmental Technician

Location: Grande Prairie/Edmonton

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Junior/Intermediate Environmental Technician to join our dynamic team in Grande Prairie. This role is perfect for someone eager to apply their skills in environmental sciences through diverse fieldwork and reporting activities.

Some out-of-town work required.

Key Responsibilities:

· Conduct fieldwork including bushwhacking, carrying equipment, excavating soil pits, and completing detailed field forms.

· Compile, document, and organize comprehensive reports based on field data, observations, & assessments.

· Utilize mapping software such as Avenza Maps and Global Mapper to download maps, create shapefiles, and submit KML/GPX files.

· Perform wildlife sweeps to identify, record, and monitor animal species and signs.

· Conduct Wetland and Watercourse Assessments, including vegetation identification (trees, shrubs, and ground cover), soil evaluation, and completion of QAES reports, ABWRET A and D assessments, WAIFs, and WAIRs.

· Measure and record turbidity levels in watercourses, document findings, capture site photos, and support frac monitoring activities.

· Navigate efficiently to multiple field locations using maps, GPS, and digital tools.

Qualifications:

· Completion of a diploma in Environmental Technology or a degree in Environmental Science, or a related field.

· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Operate ATVs (quads) safely to access remote field sites.

· Proficient in the use of GPS technology for field mapping.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Job can be physically demanding.
