Under limited supervision, performs professional work in planning, coordinating, and implementing the utility’s emergency preparedness programs.
Emergency Preparedness Coordinator
Plans, coordinates, identifies, and implements the utility’s emergency preparedness programs, initiatives, and standards and conducts activities related to key components of emergency preparedness. Continuously assesses potential hazards that threaten the utility.
Evaluates existing emergency plans and coordinates all maintenance and updates with management.
Promotes awareness throughout the utility on the importance of preparedness year-round through presentations, meetings, trainings, drills, and communication campaigns.
Assists in the development, implementation and training of safety and security operations programs, initiatives, and standards; Maintains department training records for all utility staff.
Coordinates the setup of all incidents in WebEOC, presentations, and all equipment necessary in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Coordinates and maintains EOC setup and schematics and is responsible for all supplies and materials needed during an activation or training.
Assists the manager in the development and administration of the office budget; estimates funds needed for equipment, materials, and supplies; directs the monitoring and approval of expenditures; and directs the preparation and implementation of budgetary adjustments, as necessary.
Completes other job duties as assigned.
Senior Emergency Preparedness Coordinator (in addition to duties listed above)
Tracks and coordinates all emergency event activities as required for compliance and as required for reimbursement, reporting, and grant purposes.
Supports the department in the development and implementation of new processes to streamline emergency operations response.
Lead Emergency Preparedness Coordinator (in addition to all duties listed above)
Supervises EOC operations during declared emergencies and provide guidance to Incident Commander, command staff, and general staff on NIMS related procedures.
Develops, executes, and evaluates tabletop exercises and drills to test BPUB’s emergency plans.
Knowledge important to perform the functions of the job include:
Knowledge of pertinent state and local laws and enforcement policies.
Knowledge of the methods, techniques, procedures, and practices of emergency management.
Knowledge and understanding of National Incident Management Systems and Incident Command.
Knowledge and understanding of technical requirements related to emergency management and emergency planning industry best practices.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Web EOC, and emergency management related software.

Emergency Preparedness Coordinator:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or emergency management and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in emergency response operations in an emergency management environment, utility organization, or related services.
An equivalent combination of appropriate education and relevant experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Two (2) additional years of relevant work experience are required.
Four (4) additional years of progressively responsible, relevant work experience in a senior, lead, or supervisory capacity are required.
Requires a valid Texas Driver License or receipt of a valid Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of relocation to Texas and a safe driving record, as measured by company policy.
