Electronics Production Team Lead – Control Panels VMI Manufacturing LLC (an OMNTEC Company)
VMI Manufacturing LLC (an OMNTEC Company) is a leading provider of innovative solutions for the petroleum and fueling industry. We design and manufacture electronic and electromechanical equipment that supports environmental compliance, safety, and operational efficiency. Our products include both standard and custom industrial control panels built to demanding industry and compliance standards.
We are seeking an experienced Electronics Production Team Lead to take ownership of the build and oversight of standard and custom control panels. This is a hands-on role intended for a professional who can contribute immediately with minimal ramp-up.
In addition to production responsibilities, this role will assist with new product development, including prototype builds, design-for-manufacturability input, and documentation support.
Build and wire standard and custom industrial control panels
Oversee and support panel assembly quality, workmanship, and testing
Ensure control panels are built in compliance with UL 508A
Interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
Assist engineering and management with new product development and prototype builds
Provide practical feedback on layout, wiring methods, and manufacturability
Maintain and update bills of material (BOMs) using Microsoft Excel
Support documentation, labeling, and revision control
Assist with troubleshooting, rework, and design improvements
Provide hands-on guidance and oversight to production team members
Demonstrated, hands-on experience building industrial control panels required
UL 508A experience is required
Familiarity with UL 698A requirements and intrinsically safe control panel design is a plus
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Experience with control panel layout, wiring, and component selection
Comfortable supporting prototype builds and design refinement
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including maintaining BOMs
Drafting skills are a plus, particularly experience with Fusion 360
Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects
Strong attention to detail, quality, and compliance
Ability to lead by example in a production environment
