.
will be the principal authority for all electrical engineering and power systems activities across Arcadia’s FEED and EPC projects. This role is Arcadia's primary electrical principal accountable to manage high value impact / risk associated with electrical supply & conversion through the design, integration, and delivery of complex electrical systems for large-scale eFuels plants. The successful candidate will interface directly with senior engineers at our FEED and EPC contractors, grid operators, technology suppliers like solar panels, BESS, electrolyzers, and regulatory bodies, representing Arcadia’s interests and ensuring technical excellence and compliance.
- Lead the full electrical systems design and integration aspects for eFuels plants, including high-voltage grid interconnection, substation design, and power distribution.
- Act as Arcadia’s technical authority in all interactions with EPC contractors, vendors, grid operators, and regulators.
- Develop and validate electrical system philosophies, specifications, and design criteria for FEED and EPC phases.
- Run techno-economic analysis of front-end conceptual electrical supply configurations incl. grid, Behind-the-Meter, BESS configurations that deliver competitive, secure, and continous blended power supply.
- Oversee the conceptual and detailed design of main substations and power distribution systems, integrating multiple high-voltage power sources (e.g., BTM and FTM supplies).
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (NEC, IEC, local grid requirements) and manage regulatory approvals.
- Lead hazardous area classification, electrical safety studies, and risk assessments in collaboration with HSE and process teams.
- Review and approve vendor proposals, including electrolyser and battery storage systems, ensuring suitability and integration with Arcadia’s electrical architecture.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, civil, control systems) to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Provide expert input to project planning, scheduling, and progress reporting for electrical deliverables.
- Represent Arcadia in technical negotiations, design reviews, and regulatory meetings.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and support staff as required.
- BCs. or MSc. in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, System Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical systems engineering for large-scale industrial or energy projects, including FEED/EPC/Operation phases.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as principle expert within an organization.
- Proven credibility and track record of successful engagement with senior engineers at major EPCs, grid operators, and regulatory authorities.
- Deep expertise in high-voltage power systems, substation design, grid integration, and electrical safety.
- Project economical evaluation
- Strong working knowledge of electromechanical energy conversion, electric machines, and power distribution (including redundancy and island mode operation).
- Experience with digital and remote control of electrical systems, including network and security infrastructure for control systems.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
- Detailed orientated.
- Efficient working style, strong sense of urgency, entrepreneurial mindset, and execution focus.
- Passion for sustainable energy and eFuels.
- Experience in early-stage venture environments or project-financed infrastructure.
- Familiarity with LCA modeling and carbon intensity metrics (e.g., GHG Protocol, RED II/III, ICAO CORSIA).
- Working knowledge of IP strategy or exposure to licensor agreements.
- Background in SAF, FT synthesis, or synthetic fuel refining highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering design & equipment such as electrolysis.
- Travel:
up to 30-40% (domestic and international)
