As a Data Analyst, Process & Technology Improvement, you will play a key role in advancing data-informed decision-making across Distribution Design. You will leverage analytics, automation, and visualization tools to uncover insights, improve operations, and support a culture of continuous improvement. This role blends technical expertise with business collaboration to drive innovation, strengthen data quality, and enable evidence-based decisions.
What you’ll do
Data Analysis & Insights
- Analyze complex datasets from multiple systems to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for operational improvement
- Develop descriptive and predictive models to support forecasting and strategic decision-making
- Apply statistical techniques (e.g., regression, forecasting, clustering) to identify key drivers and predict outcomes
- Respond to ad hoc data requests and develop repeatable queries and templates to improve turnaround time
- Design, develop, and maintain automated dashboards and visual reports (e.g., Power BI) to provide real-time insights
- Build and maintain KPI reporting packages tracking metrics such as project cycle times, workload distribution, cost drivers, and regulatory indicators
- Present clear, data-driven insights and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels
- Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business challenges and translate them into actionable analytics solutions
- Support leaders and teams by providing insights that inform planning, performance, and decision-making
- Train and support users on analytics tools and dashboards to enable self-service reporting
- Act as Data Steward for the Distribution Design team, ensuring alignment with enterprise data governance standards
- Maintain data integrity through effective data management, cleansing, and quality practices
- Collaborate with enterprise data teams to support consistent governance frameworks
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, service levels, and operational efficiency through analytics
- Design and maintain SharePoint sites and lists to enhance collaboration and data accessibility
- Develop and manage Power Automate workflows to reduce manual effort and streamline processes
- Contribute to building a data-driven culture and advancing analytics literacy
- Demonstrate professional conduct and align with Alectra’s core values of safety, teamwork, and customer focus.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and innovation across the business
- Perform other related duties as required
- Travel occasionally between Alectra locations
Who you are
Education & Technical Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Knowledge of utility operations, electrical distribution design, or power systems is an asset
- Familiarity with tools such as SharePoint, Power Automate, PowerApps, GIS, JD Edwards, Oracle CC&B, or similar systems is an asset
- Understanding of relational databases and coding (e.g., SQL, VBA, HTML) is an asset
- Knowledge of continuous improvement, change management, or project management methodologies is an asset
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field
- Experience developing dashboards, reports, and data models to support business decisions
- Experience working with large datasets and integrating data from multiple systems (e.g., ERP, CIS, GIS)
- Exposure to predictive modeling and advanced analytics techniques
- Experience in the electrical utility industry or a unionized environment is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL, Python, or R
- Understanding of data management, governance, and modeling practices
- Ability to translate technical insights into clear, actionable business recommendations
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a dynamic environment
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools and concepts quickly
- Valid Class “G” driver’s license
- At Alectra, Compensation for non-union positions is determined within a defined salary range for each role. Placement within the salary range depends on several factors, including qualifications, relevant experience, and alignment with the role’s requirements. We consider internal equity and market competitiveness to ensure fairness and consistency across the organization.
- This position is eligible to receive an annual incentive payment based on a combination of individual and Company performance.
- Hybrid: This role is based in a hybrid environment, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work to support team collaboration and business needs.
