Data Analyst

Overview:

The Senior Data Analyst provides analytical and reporting support to the Drilling & Completions (D&C) team within the Rockies region. This role focuses on transforming operational data into actionable insights that improve well delivery performance, operational efficiency, and capital planning.

The analyst partners with engineers, operations leaders, and field teams to build dashboards, automate reporting processes, and analyze drilling and completions data. This position requires strong SQL expertise, Power BI or Spotfire dashboard development, and experience working with large operational datasets.

Responsibilities:

- Extract and analyze large datasets related to drilling and completions performance.

- Write complex SQL queries against operational databases (OXYODS, OpenWells).

- Analyze drilling timelines, operational KPIs, well costs, and performance metrics.

- Translate data findings into business insights and operational recommendations.

- Build and maintain Power BI or Spotfire dashboards for operations teams.

- Develop visualizations that clearly communicate complex data to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Troubleshoot dashboard issues and optimize refresh performance.

- Ensure reporting solutions align with enterprise BI standards.

- Identify manual or repetitive processes and implement automation solutions.

- Develop SQL templates, stored procedures, and automated reporting pipelines.

- Improve data workflows and operational reporting efficiency.

- Work closely with D&C engineers, operations teams, and business stakeholders to support data needs.

- Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and IT teams.

- Support ad-hoc data requests and operational reporting.

- Document reporting logic, data sources, and methodologies.

- Perform data validation and quality checks across source systems.

- Monitor data integrity and identify anomalies.

- Support master data management for wells, pads, and operational assets.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, or related field required.

- 3+ years experience as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or similar role in the. - 2+ years writing complex SQL queries - 2+ years building dashboards in Power BI or Spotfire

- Upstream oil & gas experience required.

- Drilling & Completions data knowledge required.

- OpenWells or Landmark system experience highly preferred.

- Experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms higgly preferred.

- Experience supporting engineering, operations, or technical teams

- Must live with a 45 mile raidus of Denver, CO.

- Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug, fit for duty, and agility.
