Cleaning Crew Laborer

Our Cleaning Crew Laborers are not like a sanitization team, but cleaning up the sand throughout the foundry. This is a dirty position that requires going up ladders, squeezing into tight spaces, and manual labor. It is indoors, but it is not climate controlled.

The current shift is Monday - Friday, 2:00 pm - 12:00 am (Midnight). Overtime may rotate on Saturdays; no overtime on Sundays. Additional overtime may be available in other departments if employee is interested in additional hours.

Probationary Pay starts at $20.50/hr, plus a $0.80/hr shift differential. After a 75-Day probationary period, it will increase to $20.69/hr, plus a $0.80/hr shift differential.

Cleaning Crew can be seen as a "foot in the door" because there are multiple departments employees can bid into and build their career at Gartland.

Summary Description:

This position performs various cleaning duties to dispose of the excess sand around the foundry to maintain a safe work environment.

Essential Functions:

- Shovel and rake sand from under machines to hoppers for recycling

- Shovel sand to hoppers or to areas to be picked up by floor sweeper

- Operate forktruck

- Assist in training co-workers

- Maintain a good attendance record

- Keep work area clean and perform housekeeping duties

- Inspect own work

- Record data as required on all internal documents

- Comply with Company safety policies and procedures

- Perform set-ups, attend to minor breakdowns and report other equipment conditions as necessary

- Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned

Skills or Experience Required:

- Must be team-oriented.

- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions

- Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

- Must be focused and have strong attention to detail.

Other Position Demands or Requirements:

Must be able to use the following machines, tools, equipment, and/or work aids:

- Hand tools

- Power tools

Beneficial to know how to use:

- Forklifts

- End loader

- Electric/Manual conveyors

- Cutting torch
