This is a full-time remote role for a Category Buyer specializing in Steel & Infrastructure. The Category Buyer will be responsible for managing both Direct and Indirect spend, with a strong focus on Direct categories such as steel and infrastructure materials, secondary attention to MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) negotiations. This role ensures timely and cost-effective sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management while supporting operational excellent and strategic procurement initiatives.
- Source and negotiate contracts for steel and infrastructure-related subcategories.
- Ensure continuous supply and quality compliance for critical raw materials.
- Support development of index-based pricing models and cost tracking for steel categories.
- Lead negotiations for MRO and other indirect categories to optimize cost and service levels.
- Analyze MRO consumption patterns to identify savings, consolidation, and stocking opportunities.
- Maintain compliance with procurement policies.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies, including dual sourcing and material substitution programs.
- Collaborate with R&D and Technology teams for material innovation and risk mitigation.
- Perform advanced data analysis using Excel (pivot tables, lookups) to support cost modeling, spend analysis, and supplier performance tracking.
- Develop and maintain procurement dashboards to monitor steel indices (CRU, AMM, scrap), pricing trends, and MRO usage patterns.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple categories and projects simultaneously.
- Market awareness and relationship management expertise.
- Proficiency in data analysis and advanced Excel (Power Query, pivot tables).
- Ability to work in a global, fast-paced environment.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, including direct and indirect categories.
- Experience with steel sourcing and MRO negotiations preferred.
