The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory to meet the company’s needs while maintaining cost-effectiveness and quality standards. This role involves supplier selection, price negotiation, and order management to ensure timely delivery of goods. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of procurement practices.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and service as defined by the company Quality Management System.
- Source goods and materials from reliable suppliers that meet quality and budget requirements.
- Maintain a diverse supplier base to ensure availability of high-quality material.
- Place purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure on-time arrival of goods.
- Manage the order process, from requisition to final receipt, to avoid shortages and overstock.
- Resolve discrepancies or issues related to invoices, quality, or delivery delays.
- Negotiate pricing and payment terms to secure the best possible deals for the company.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage reordering to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Participate in cost-reduction initiatives to improve budget performance and profitability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable sourcing.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers regarding order status, changes, and quality issues.
- Address and resolve supplier performance issues in coordination with the Purchasing Manager.
- Analyze purchasing data to track trends, spending, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Prepare reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and order status.
- Use data to assist with forecasting demand and planning inventory needs.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and industry standards.
- Mitigate supply chain risks by maintaining backup suppliers and monitoring quality control.
- Work closely with the production, logistics, and finance teams to meet operational needs.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: 2-4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field.
- Strong negotiation skills with an eye for cost savings.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with suppliers.
- Knowledge of supply chain principles and purchasing practices.
