As an Advisor, Health & Safety


supporting Electricity Operations

, you’ll help us uphold our commitment to a culture where safety matters most. You will


partner

with business units to manage operational risk, implement health and safety programs, and ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and standards.



What you’d be responsible for



- F


acilitat


ing


the implementation, administration


,


development


and maintenance

of the EPCOR Environmental Health and Safety Management System

- Ensuring

compliance with applicable legislation, policies and procedures

- Coaching and mentoring all levels of management and employees to provide understanding of their health and safety responsibilities and assistance in fulfilling those roles

- Providing consultation and assisting in work observations, workplace inspections, risk assessments, hazard analysis and job planning

- Participating in


and/or leading incident investigations,

could include discussions with


management

Life Saving

Rules (LSR) and Alcohol & Drug Standard

- Monitoring for potential or upcoming legislative and regulatory changes

- Providing interpretation and application of health and safety rules, regulations and legislation to management, staff and Health and Safety

- Participating in the development of health and safety performance measures, interpreting results and coaching/influencing staff on how to improve performance

- Acting as a subject matter expert in the creation and review of new

training courses and protocols/procedures

- Networking with industry peers to ascertain potential best practice

for adoption into EPCOR

practice and procedures

- Providing support to other Health & Safety

eams in the development and maintenance of the EPCOR EHS Management System and our


customers’

What’s required to be successful


- Post-secondary education in Health & Safety (certificate, diploma, or degree)

- Relevant accreditation with the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals, such as CRSP, CRST or CSP is an asset

- Minimum


of

3-5 years of experience managing health and safety


processes

, programs and tools. Experience directly related to


electrical


systems is a valuable asset

- Practical field

experience in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and promoting a proactive safety culture

- Experience in


creating


and/or


delivering training materials


is

required

- Demonstrable strong understanding of health and safety regulatory requirements

- Knowledge and/or experience

in project management, risk analysis and developing mitigation strategies

- Ability to:

- Develop, coordinate and manage multiple requests, projects and job demands with a wide variety of key stakeholders

- Understand and anticipate specific business drivers and


influence,

facilitate and participate in the development and implementation of health and safety plans, goals and objectives

- Understand H&S performance measures, interpreting results and coach/influence staff on how to improve performance

- A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

- If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks

required. Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.

- A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection


process

and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.

- To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
