As an Accountant, you will process and reconcile financial transactions based on policies and procedures across a variety of clients and charitable giving vehicles. This role contributes to maximizing revenue generation and cost efficiency by providing timely, accurate processing of transactions and disbursements as well as prompt responses/follow-up to client inquires. Accountants support assigned programs and internal teams through reconciliations and research, utilizing analysis and critical thinking. You will be a collaborative member within a team-oriented environment to provide clients with the best service possible.
- Work with clients, auditors, and compliance to ensure the program and financial transactions are administered in accordance with best practices and IRS regulations.
- Assist and collaborate to resolve reconciling variances and reporting discrepancies, ensuring data integrity within various accounting and financial software packages.
- Update, document and review processes and procedures, policies, and controls to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness.
- Record and review financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices, policies and procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepare reconciliations of cash, securities, investments and general ledger activity, including internal and external communications to resolve discrepancies.
- Process transactions, including Net Asset Value updates, in accordance with established Service Level Agreements for each client.
- Prepare and deliver month end financial reports per client Service Level Agreements and internal deadlines.
- Coordinate tax season priorities regarding reconciling of client accounts to finalize financial reporting.
- Conduct research and communicate results as required.
- Proactively communicate changes, amendments, adjustments or errors that arise and provide supporting documentation to Management for review.
- Ensure accuracy of all internal and external reporting deliverables for review by Lead or Senior.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Two (2) years of experience in financial services, philanthropic industry, or trust administration preferred.
- Experience working within fund accounting, financial services or multiple financial systems is preferred.
- Flexibility and agility to shift priorities, cross-train and work as a team member in the department.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality of program financials.
- Demonstrated critical thinking to mitigate risk and solve complex problems.
- Time management and organization skills required to meet deadlines and balance multiple projects.
- Strong business ethics & personal integrity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and client communication
- Additional degrees or certifications in accounting, business administration or finance are a plus.
- Preference given to candidates with investment or non-profit accounting experience.
- Experience in data analysis within large data sets and creating efficiencies within the analysis a plus.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite and basic financial concepts.
