The accountant assists in day-to-day accounting functions, cost tracking and reporting, cash management oversight and other assigned financial and administrative duties at the Falkirk Mine.
- Assist with monthly and year-end accounting and reporting functions, including compiling financial data, preparing and reviewing journal entries and generating financial reports
- Prepare audit workpapers and support coordination of internal, independent and government audits
- Provide backup for daily financial duties, including timecard entry, review and scheduling in Workforce software
- Provide oversight of inventory maintenance
- Aid in the completion and distribution of the daily production report
- Review purchase requisitions for proper mine cost coding
- Contribute to the preparation and distribution of the monthly cost reports
- Support the annual budgeting process and long-range budget projections
- Manage and maintain fixed asset records and documentation
- Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, state and federal accounting regulations, established company policies and procedures, employment law regulations and state and federal environmental regulations
- Assist with research, reporting, and data entry, as well as provide financial information and support to other departments and mine personnel as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel functions
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
- Demonstrate the ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Knowledge of business practices and applications
- Must possess good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
- Minimum of five years of accounting experience
- Preference will be given to individuals holding an active Certified Public Accountant license.
