WordPress UX & Performance Engineer

Here at Azenco Outdoor, we manufacture luxury, motorized aluminum pergolas and run an extensive marketing agency for our network of 200+ dealers. Our marketing strategy and web development needs are complex and require a keen eye, expertise and a desire to grow with a company.

This Role Is NOT

- A graphic design position

- A “build it in Webflow/Figma then hand it off” role

- A React or headless WordPress position

- A clean-slate rebuild project

We already have a graphic designer. This role owns execution, UX logic and technical decision-making.

What You Will Own

- UX improvements based on real user behavior and data

- Implementation of new sites, subdomains and landing pages, often times switching old layouts from Flatsome to Elementor

- Ongoing maintenance of an existing WordPress site with legacy structure

- Performance optimization and plugin rationalization

- Elementor and Flatsome coexistence without breaking the site

- SEO-focused UX improvements that impact traffic and conversions

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)

- Identify and document major UX friction points using Clarity and user testing

- Reduce plugin bloat and resolve Elementor vs Flatsome conflicts

- Improve Core Web Vitals without a full rebuild

- Implement UX improvements that are measurable in GA4 and SEO tools

- Create a clear technical plan for stabilizing and scaling the site

Core Responsibilities

- Maintain and optimize WordPress sites using Elementor Pro and existing themes

- Conduct UX research using Microsoft Clarity, UserTesting.com, or similar tools

- Implement UX improvements grounded in data, not opinions

- Write and manage custom CSS within Elementor and theme constraints

- Improve technical SEO through structure, internal linking and page UX

- Troubleshoot plugin conflicts, performance issues and layout regressions

- Work directly in production environments with caution and documentation

Required Experience (Non-Negotiable)

- 4+ years working hands-on with WordPress in production environments

- Proven experience maintaining and improving existing, imperfect WordPress sites

- Deep experience with Elementor Pro beyond basic drag-and-drop

- Strong understanding of UX principles tied to conversion and behavior

- Experience using Clarity or UserTesting.com

- Ability to write clean, scalable custom CSS

- Solid understanding of on-page SEO and technical UX impact

- If your background is primarily graphic design, this role is not a fit
