Cenovus is seeking a Water Treatment & Plant Utilities Process Engineer for the Lima Refinery. The Lima Refinery uses advanced water reuse systems, primarily involving reverse osmosis (RO), to treat and recycle process water, significantly reducing freshwater intake and improving sustainability, to meet stricter water quality standards and minimize environmental impact. This role would provide engineering support to maintain and improve the refinery’s process water treatment systems and ensure the delivery of quality process water to refinery operations. The Water Treatment & Plant Utilities Process Engineer works closely with the Operations Department to troubleshoot system-related problems that require technical expertise and experience. They are also responsible for providing engineering support to maintain and improve the refinery’s steam system, including three fired boilers, and the instrument air system, including compressors and dryers.

- Monitor assigned process unit key performance indicators (KPI's), conduct appropriate tests, analyze data and recommend changes to improve performance, including preparation of quarterly KPI reports and Business Improvement Plan action items for all assigned process units.
- Provide technical assistance to Operations related to troubleshooting operating problems, developing alternative solutions, and promoting acceptance of the best alternative.
- Keep abreast of the latest technical developments, and actively identify new areas for learning by regularly creating and taking advantage of learning opportunities.
- Support the Refinery Process Safety Management (PSM) program including participation in unit HAZOPS, Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) Reviews, Risk Management Plan (RMP), Hazard Analysis, and Management of Change (MOC) meetings.
- Liaise with corporate technical staff, specified Business Units, and external contractors, vendors and suppliers to develop, review and implement operating plans, ensuring outcomes meet current and future business needs.
- Key stakeholder in project development, design and implementation of projects as well as unit Turnarounds.
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, chemical engineering degree an asset
