The Vice President, Data Center Construction is responsible for establishing, growing, and leading Blattner’s data center construction business. This executive role is accountable for market entry strategy, customer engagement, organizational development, and execution of early data center projects. The position blends strategic leadership with hands-on oversight to build a scalable, repeatable data center construction platform aligned with Blattner’s EPC and self-perform capabilities.
- Establish and execute the strategy for Blattner’s data center division, including market positioning, service offerings, geographic expansion, and growth targets.
- Demonstrates strategic leadership, manages complexity, and drives collaboration across the enterprise to advance Blattner’s basics, values, mission, and desired end states.
- Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center clients, developers, and partners.
- Build and lead a data center construction organization, including preconstruction, project management, field operations, quality, safety, and commissioning coordination.
- Oversee delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data center projects.
- Ensure rigorous cost control, schedule certainty, risk management, and change management practices tailored to data center construction.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier leadership and technical talent with deep data center experience while reinforcing Blattner’s culture and commitment to excellence.
- Partner with finance, legal, and risk teams to structure contracts, manage exposure, and ensure disciplined execution of complex delivery models.
- Own division-level P&L performance, forecasting, and margin accountability for the data center construction business.
- Champion a world-class safety culture, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, client, and company standards.
- Ensure quality systems meet the high reliability and uptime requirements of mission-critical facilities.
- Promote innovation in construction methods, prefabrication, modularization, and commissioning readiness.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field
- Fifteen or more years of experience in large-scale construction, with significant leadership experience in data center, mission-critical, or complex infrastructure construction.
- Experience delivering projects for hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center clients.
- Demonstrated success managing large, complex teams and multi-project portfolios.
- Proven track record of building or scaling a data center business, division, or major market segment.
- Familiarity with energy parks and renewable integration is a plus.
