Join EPCOR’s Field Operations team as a Utility Worker Intern and gain hands‑on experience supporting the essential work that keeps our water distribution and wastewater collection systems running safely and reliably. Under the guidance of experienced Utility Technicians and Field Operations Supervisors, you’ll assist with system maintenance activities, field inspections, sampling, and operational support tasks.
This full‑time, paid summer internship offers exposure to water and wastewater infrastructure, field operations practices, and utility maintenance techniques. You’ll build practical skills while contributing to work that directly protects public health and supports the communities we serve.
Internship Dates:June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026
- Assist with basic maintenance activities on water system infrastructure, including hydrant inspections, valve exercising, and meter-related tasks under supervision
- Support field activities such as flushing, water quality sampling, and flow testing with guidance from experienced team members
- Help with wastewater collection system inspections, cleaning support, and manhole assessments alongside certified operators
- Assist with locating utilities and supporting meter reading routes as needed
- Observe and assist team members with equipment operation and field procedures while following all safety protocols
- Support documentation of field activities, service orders, and inspection records using established systems
- Participate in field walks to learn how water distribution and wastewater collection systems operate
- Follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE and adherence to confined space and traffic control practices
- Support other field operations projects and responsibilities as requested
- High school diploma or GED and interest in water utility field operations
- Valid Arizona driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Willingness to learn about water distribution and wastewater collection systems, tools, and safety practices
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn service order and reporting systems
- Comfort working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and willingness to perform hands‑on tasks
- Ability to lift moderate weight with team assistance and perform physical tasks safely under supervision
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with field teams
- Professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to learn new skills
