Utility Combo Technician - Fulltime

GTel is one of the fastest growing utility service companies in Ontario. In anticipation of our 2025 busy season, we’re looking for individuals to join our growing team as a Utility Combo Technician. - Utility Combo Technicians inspect underground utilities as well as read utility meters within designated areas. This dynamic role involves the seamless transition between completing daily meter reading assignment, and locating various utilities. The role requires the strict adherence to health and safety protocols to ensure your safety and those in the communities that we serve. This is a flexible role and everchanging due to the changing customer demands.

Other Duties Include

- Employing a health and safety mindset with customers and communities

- Consulting with contractors, developers, builders, regarding locations of underground utilities

- Preparing reports and documentation verifying marked utilities

- Verification and accurate reading of meters

- Safeguarding of company equipment and vehicle

- Sewer Safety inspections

Successful Candidates Will Have The Following Skills

- The ability to work independently and manage a workload to meet necessary deadlines

- Good customer services skills

- Proficient use of a computer

- The ability to problem solve and demonstrate good judgment as situations dictate

- The ability to physically walk in and out of ditches, on uneven surfaces, lifting and loading equipment up to 9kg (20 lbs) in and out of the vehicle several times per day, carry/swing 20lbs of equipment while walking

- The ability to work in all types of weather

- Have a valid ‘G’ class Driver’s License and clean three (3) year Driver’s Abstract as this position includes a company vehicle for business purposes only

- The ability to work weekends on call and overtime as required
