Locations:
•No prior experience required for groundsman positions
•Pass pre-hire drug screen and motor vehicle history check (MVR)
•Able to perform manual labor
•Ability to learn and adhere to safety standards
•Willingness to learn job skills
•CDL/ chauffeur licenses required for some positions (Must be willing/able to obtain)
Groundsman Responsibilities:
•Meet safety standards by learning and familiarizing oneself with electrical, traffic, equipment, and natural hazards
•Wear proper personal protective equipment, i.e., helmet, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
•Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and public
•Pre-trip and post trip inspections of trucks and equipment
•Sensible use and cleanliness of company property and any area where work is being done
•Work in all types of weather
•Remove branches, clean up and dispose of debris
•Operate equipment, such as gasoline and hydraulic tools, power saws, sprayers, etc.
•Use hand tools, such as axes, saws, pruners, etc.
•Spray brush and stumps, making proper and selective application of herbicides
•Verbally communicate with other crew members and fully understand instructions and information
•Promote and maintain good public relations through effective accomplishment of assigned work and appropriate behavior of employees on crews dealing with customers, police, and fire departments while on job sites
•Work around excessive noise from machines while wearing proper hearing protection
•Be exposed to hazards working near power equipment, traffic, high voltage wires, falling limbs, etc.
•Be professional at all times
Apprentice Foreman Responsibilities:
•Perform groundsman essential functions
•Maintains accurate records, timesheets, and reports related to crew operations
•Instructs crews on new/ revised job units
•Accept accountability for crew, as well as assist in on-the-job training for less experienced crew members
A Foreman Responsibilities:
•Manages crews, environment, and field operations to meet production goals
•Demonstrate knowledge of problem-solving techniques
•Maintains accurate records, timesheets, and reports related to crew operations
•Perform other duties as assigned
•Ability to lead people with strong communication skills and ensure crew has proper understanding of work
•Effectively communicate with customers/ property owners about work practices to obtain their consent to necessary work
•Enforce on-the-job safety practices
•Have broad knowledge of arboricultural and other technical aspects (mechanical and manual) of line clearing operations
•Accept accountability for crews, as well as assist in on-the-job training for less experienced crew members
