Transportation Specialist

Your responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for the coordination of all logistics activities associated with customer orders. This includes but is not limited to the arranging of inland transportation (truck, barge, rail), obtaining and negotiating transportation quotes, manage delivery schedules, release and expedite cargo, inventory management and reconciliations, customs clearance, working directly with customers and suppliers.

Job Description Key Accountabilities

- Schedule and track inbound and outbound shipments according to customers’ requirements, ensuring on-time deliveries

- Maintain and expand network of logistics providers

- Obtain and negotiate rates with service providers (carriers, storage facilities etc)

- Identify and implement supply chain efficiencies

- Create/ review shipping documents and maintain records

- Manage inventory and monthly reconciliations

- Handle import/export related documents and processes

- Support sales staff with customer service and supplier relations

- Work in a team environment, communicating as required with all personnel

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

- 4 Year / Bachelors Degree

- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience

- 2+ years of experience with a logistics background, experience with import process a plus

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Solid computer skills - Microsoft Office (O365)

- Excellent time management and organization skills

- Ability to work under pressure

- Knowledge of general processes and practices related to the position

- Skilled in organizational understanding of the specific department

- Ability to assist, train, and mentor employees on the department's best practices

- Accountable for completing work independently without requests for repeated direction
