Proper Voltage builds intelligent battery systems that enable advanced battery chemistries to work in real-world products. Our platform supports applications across uninterruptible power systems, robotics, defense, data centers, and other power-critical infrastructure.
We are moving from R&D into commercialization, and clarity, credibility, and consistency in our technical materials now directly affect customer adoption and fundraising outcomes.
Job Overview
Proper Voltage is hiring a Technical Writing Lead to own our technical documentation and external-facing technical materials.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role. You will be responsible for how our products are explained to customers, partners, and investors through spec sheets, datasheets, catalogs, website content, and supporting materials. The goal is not volume, but clarity and trust.
This is not a product management, program management, or marketing leadership role. It is an ownership role for technical writing standards, structure, and output.
You will operate with incomplete information, make judgment calls, and be accountable for outcomes. Over time, this role is expected to reduce the burden on engineering and sales by taking full ownership of technical materials that are currently produced ad hoc.
Who This Role Is For
This role is for someone who values leverage over title and is comfortable being accountable for work that directly impacts how the company is perceived externally.
You should be comfortable working closely with technical teams without needing to own a product roadmap or engineering execution. You care deeply about structure, clarity, and consistency, and you are willing to make judgment calls about what belongs in external materials and what does not.
The right person is someone who has operated in technical or industrial environments and understands that credibility is built through precision, restraint, and repeatability, not volume or hype.
You are expected to use modern tools, including AI, to accelerate your work. However, success in this role depends on strong editorial judgment.
You should not rely on AI outputs as finished work. All materials are expected to be reviewed, edited, and owned end-to-end, with clear intent behind every word, format choice, and visual element.
This role is not a fit if
This role is not a fit if you are primarily interested in brand marketing, demand generation, or high-level storytelling detached from real product constraints.
Nor is this a fit if you prefer highly structured environments where inputs are handed to you, or if you are comfortable passing through unedited or lightly edited AI-generated content as final output. Judgment, taste, and accountability matter here.
