Performs a variety of complex technical support functions and a variety of methods of surveys related to the location,
construction and tenure/rights acquisition of civil and structural components of generation, transmission and station projects.
Provides technical advice, guidance and direction to Survey Technologist 1s and others performing survey work.
* Performs a variety of complex technical support functions related to the survey, location, construction and tenure/rights acquisition of civil and structural components of generation, transmission and station projects by studying and interpreting project requirements and coordinating basic format with requirements or other organizational groups in Hydro and external groups involved with the projects, adapting existing standards in order to prepare alternative design proposals for projects involving cross discipline issues, performing a variety of complex calculations to determine topography, volume, profile and survey closures, designing and adjusting survey networks and resolving technical problems encountered in the field.
* Provides technical advice, guidance, direction to, and may perform all of the same duties as the Survey Technologist 1; may provide project leadership to survey teams, support or cross discipline technical staff providing assistance on assigned projects.
* Prepares feasibility or special studies and related reports such as proposals and cost estimates for client groups.
* Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties which do not affect the rating of the job.
* Completion of a Diploma of Technology in Survey and Mapping from an Institute of Technology or equivalent combined with 4 years experience as a Survey Technologist 1 that includes a demonstrated and practical knowledge of applied survey methodology and ability to carry out detailed and involved survey projects that includes studying and participating in selecting project sites and routes and in expediting/controlling project resources.

* This is a 5 year FTT opportunity under the MOU#15 agreement.
* This position maybe supporting the North Coast Transmission Project and various BC Hydro survey projects.
* Workdays may be spent in the field in all weather conditions.
* Working in remote locations and over rough terrain will be required.
* Overnight absences from home will be required.
* Carrying and lifting survey equipment (up to 50 Ibs) will be required.
* Required to operate 4X4 vehicle on off road conditions.
* Work will be a mix of technical field and office activities.
* Work in an office environment may be required.
* Testing may be required in the interview.
