The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Surface Mine Operator 2 - Driller to join our Surface Mine Operations Team in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.

This is a permanent on-site position, working a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation.

As a Surface Mine Operator 2 – Driller you will be responsible for participating in drilling and blasting activities within the open pit mine.

Additionally, in this position you will:

- Collect samples from drill hole cuttings and ensure compliance to drill plan with respect to drill hole location and depth.

- Perform pre-operational checks of equipment, basic maintenance on track or rubber tire undercarriage, buckets, and attachments, and lubricate equipment components and attachments.

- Complete and maintain equipment log sheets and drill reports.

- Assist with building and maintaining roads.

- Assist in maintenance activities around the pit including moving and installing dewatering pumps, installing, as well as moving pipelines and road signage.

- Comply with work safety policies and safety regulations such as OH&S, Safe Operating Procedures, Highway Traffic Act, and WHMIS.

- Operate a variety of heavy equipment safely via radio communication and using occupant safety devices.

About You

Education:

- Completed a minimum of Grade 10 or Equivalent.

- Successful completion of the Level 1 Blaster certification in the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador would be considered an asset.

Experience:

- Previous experience operating Sandvik and CAT surface drills is required.

- Particularly the Sandvik Ranger DX900i, the Sandvik Leopard Di650, and CAT Production drills.

Skills:

- Strong ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.

- Ability to demonstrate initiative and to follow instructions.

- Strong focus on safety, health, and the environment.
