Your Next Challenge

The Surface Utility Operator is responsible for the civil operation requirements for the Mine. It is not limited to but includes, operate the backfill plant to produce paste for underground operations and QA/QC on paste strengths, cement truck driving, small equipment operation (skidsteer, forklift etc.) as well as general labourer tasks including seasonal construction and preparation (winterisation) to ensure the site surface activities support and anticipate the needs of the Mine site operations.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

- Perform role consistent with the Health & Safety Training Classification Guideline Surface Operations

- Safely operate small equipment, and cement trucks in support of site services operations.

- General Labour activities including shovelling snow, spreading sand, grass cutting, brushing etc.

- Borehole operation

- QA/QC of borehole operations

- Housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean and clear working environment for all.

- Working as a team player as well as individually.

- Communicate effectively

- Support the smooth running of the mine, appreciating that is our role.

- Other duties as assigned

What You Need To Succeed

Utility Operators work outdoors in cold and warm seasonal conditions and in other areas of the mine site as required. He/she will also be expected to work outside in extreme weather conditions during winter. The incumbent must be able to perform tasks requiring a light to medium physical demand including:

- Lift and carry loads up to a maximum of 30kgs (66lbs)

- Work in environmental extremes for over 60 consecutive minutes (e.g. very cold, or variable weather)

- Constantly sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crawl and/or climb stairs.

- Frequently push, pull, lift, lower, hold, and or restrain an object.

- Access and egress vehicles that require arm extension and flexion to achieve access/egress

- Care and caution accessing and egressing equipment that will invariably be on uneven ground

- Core strength to support lower back due to role type operating machinery for extended periods

- Fatigue management related to shift work

Our Ideal Candidate Has

- Experience operating fixed plant or mobile equipment of a similar nature to that of the operation would be considered an asset

- Computer skills and ability to learn new programs

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) are essential.

- Valid and clean G class License (Minimum)
