We have an opportunity for a full-time temporary Supervisor, Corporate Accounting to join the Centerra Corporate team. This is a hybrid contract role for up to an 18-month term.
This position is responsible for the timely and accurate recording of general ledger transactions, including the completion of the month-end general ledger close for Centerra’s Canadian parent and various subsidiaries in Canada and the US. The Supervisor, Corporate Accounting is responsible for account reconciliations and various accruals and accounting analysis. The incumbent is also responsible for annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting for the Corporate entity.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- The following tasks are performed for Centerra’s Corporate Canadian and US entities (i.e., six entities in total):
- Complete required G/L entries, including posting of subledger details into the G/L.
- Complete various G/L account reconciliations and analysis, on a monthly basis.
- Prepare various accruals for month-end reporting.
- Prepare monthly intercompany invoices and quarterly transfer pricing invoices to sites.
- Prepare all Corporate bank reconciliations.
- Prepare the Corporate legal entity financial statements and other supporting working papers for tax filing for two Canadian entities.
- Work with the Treasury and Tax groups to maintain the intercompany loan structure and equity structures and provide necessary accounting support.
- Account for share-based compensation using Solium Capital Shareworks, including monthly expensing, cash receipts and realizations, preparation of Share Capital Continuity as well as support for financial reporting on a quarterly basis.
- Manage annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process for the Corporate entities.
- Support external/internal audit’s throughout the year.
- Ensure compliance with SOX 404 requirements.
- Assist with special projects, as necessary.
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Candidate should have a minimum of five years experience in a computerized accounting environment. Mining industry experience would be an asset.
- Experience using SAP ERP accounting software would be preferred, or experience in a similar ERP environment.
- Must be computer-literate and have proficient knowledge of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint..
- University degree and a professional accounting designation (CPA) required.
- Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and SOX Section 404.
- Experience in multi-entity environment with knowledge of intercompany relationships.
- Ability to develop constructive relationships, in order to work with other departments in the Corporate office, to ensure smooth and timely collection of information required for various accounting and operational purposes.
- Must be organized and detail-oriented.
