- To oversee and coordinate all on-site construction and off-site design activities within the designated area, ensuring alignment with project plans, compliance with safety and quality standards, and timely completion to support successful project execution and delivery.
As Part of the Team You Will:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) Consultant on electrical engineering design activities and ensure compliance with Newmont standards.
- Ensure electrical engineering construction activities led by the EPCM Consultant adhere to relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.
- Develop and manage project estimates, budgets, schedules, and execution plans.
- Coordinate contractors, consultants, and project team members to deliver work safely and efficiently.
- Participate in Risk Assessments and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews, attend and evaluate pre-start meetings, report hazards, incidents, and environmental concerns.
- Review and ensure maintenance of quality control plans and reports, conduct field inspections and audits, ensuring overall projects quality standards.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback and set goals to ensure continuous improvement and impactful team morale.
- Ensuring safe commissioning of completed projects to ensure conformance to design and site standards for smooth handing over to operations.
Your Training, Skills and Experience Checklist:
- Bachelor’s degree, National Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong skills in project management, study management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Essential soft skills for leadership, managing multidisciplinary teams, and support functions, including data analysis and report preparation.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in the mining industry, operations and/or projects.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with an international Tier 1 mining company.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in leading the construction of electrical infrastructure for an underground mine.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in design of underground mine electrical infrastructure.
- Minimum 2 projects leading the installation of electrical infrastructure for a mill installation.
- Minimum 2 projects leading the electrical design for a mill installation.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience managing EPCM consultants.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across all workgroups.
- Strong administrative and attention to detail skills.
- Understanding of project management practices and tools.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Confidence leading projects independently.
- Understands role as a team member and team leader (where applicable), can translate into their day-to-day interactions, and adjust behavior as needed.
- Understands the behavior of other individuals and the effects on the team; resolves conflicts as needed.
