The Senior Adviser, Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing procurement operations in support of an open pit mining site. This on-site role provides guidance and expertise to a Buyer and a Contract Administrator and ensures effective execution of sourcing, contract lifecycle management (CLM), and procurement processes. The Senior Advisor, Supply Chain manages strategic and critical contracts, leads RFP activities, provides guidance in strategic sourcing, supports SAP service order transactions, and ensures workload balance across procurement personnel. The role also supports change management initiatives and workforce development planning in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager. This position requires strong cross functional leadership, commercial acumen, and operational awareness within a mining environment. Rotational weekend on-call support is required to meet operational needs.
- Coach, train, provide guidance and support a Buyer and a Contract Administrator.
- Assign and balance procurement workload and provide transactional support as required.
- Provide training and mentorship to Supply Chain personnel and internal stakeholders/end users.
- Provide transactional support in procurement and contracts management
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the full procurement lifecycle including requisition review, sourcing, negotiation, award, and supplier performance management.
- Lead and manage RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, bid evaluations, and commercial negotiations.
- Provide insight, analysis, and recommendations in strategic sourcing to optimize cost, quality, service, and risk.
- Develop sourcing strategies for critical and high-value categories (e.g., mining services, heavy equipment, mobile fleet support, explosives, fuel, major components, maintenance services).
- Support in Creating CC&V Site P&S process and Change Management
- Identify cost savings, value creation, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Monitor market conditions and supplier performance to mitigate supply risk.
- Manage strategic and critical contracts from drafting through execution, amendment, renewal, and close-out.
- Ensure contracts align with commercial, operational, and legal requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance, KPIs, and compliance obligations.
- Support contract governance and risk mitigation efforts.
- Assist in dispute resolution and contractor relationship management.
- Provide Guidance and Training to the contract’s administrator
- Support Change Management Activities and CLM process refinement and implementation.
- Review and manage SAP transactions related to service orders, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and service entry sheets.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of procurement data in SAP.
- Provide transactional support to balance workload across Buyers as required.
- Generate and analyze procurement reports to support operational and financial decision-making.
Operational Support – Open Pit Mining:
- Support maintenance and production teams with timely procurement of materials and services to minimize downtime.
- Ensure critical spares and service contracts are established and maintained.
- Support major shutdowns and planned maintenance events.
- Align procurement priorities with site production and operational objectives.
- Assist the Supply Chain Manager in implementing change management initiatives.
- Support process optimization and procurement system enhancements.
- Develop and maintain procurement procedures, SOPs, and training materials.
- Participate in cross-functional projects to improve site performance and supply chain efficiency.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote contractor compliance with site safety standards.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including vendor dependency and market volatility.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management in support of site and organizational objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive procurement or supply chain experience.- Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing strategic sourcing events (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs).
- Experience managing contract lifecycle activities (drafting, negotiation, amendments, renewals, close-out).
- Hands-on experience with SAP procurement and service order transactions.
- Experience supporting operational environments (industrial, heavy manufacturing, energy, mining, or similar).
- Experience in open pit mining or heavy industrial site operations.
- Experience managing high-value and critical categories such as:
- Mining services
- Heavy mobile equipment
- Explosives
- Fuel
- Maintenance services and major components
- Experience supporting shutdowns, turnaround events, or critical maintenance planning.
- Experience leading change management initiatives or system implementations.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Contract negotiation and risk mitigation expertise.
- Knowledge of contract governance and contractor performance management.
- Understanding of mining site safety and regulatory standards.
- Advanced proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to analyze procurement data and generate actionable insights.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment.
- Work on site Monday through Thursday on 10-hour shifts.
- Provide rotational after-hours and weekend support as operationally required.
- Position based in the United States at the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine, located in Teller County Colorado.
- Must be able to work at high altitude.
