Job Summary:
The Slitter Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring slitting equipment used to process steel coils into specified widths. This role ensures production meets customer specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Complete set-up and operation of the slitter with the assistance of the slitter helper
· Ability to read and understand work order instructions
· Monitor slitting operations to maintain proper tolerance, edge quality, and coil integrity
· Measure slit coils using calipers and micrometers to verify accuracy
· Inspect material for defects such as burrs, camber, edge wave and surface defects document findings and adjust as necessary.
· Troubleshoot basic mechanical and operational issues and notify maintenance or supervision of major problems
· Complete production, quality, and material tracking documentation accurately
· Perform routine equipment maintenance, lubrication, and housekeeping
· Follow all safety procedures, including PPE, lockout/tagout, and material-handling guidelines
· Previous experience operating steel slitting line or similar metal processing equipment preferred
· Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read work orders and technical specifications
· Proficiency in basic math and measurement conversions
· Attention to detail with a focus on quality, efficiency, and safety
· Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required
· Willingness to work overtime, rotating shifts, or weekends as needed
