Position Summary
The Senior Geologist based in our Denver office, works in a collaborative team environment, and plays a significant role pursuing acquisitions and promoting opportunities through technical and commercial analysis. Successful acquisitions are likely to lead to subsurface development opportunities for the Senior Geologist on new assets with the expectation that the acquisition model is risked appropriately and can be executed on. Additionally, this role supports ongoing subsurface development opportunities for Jonah Energy's Fields including the evaluation of additional reservoir targets. This position is also responsible for providing guidance to colleagues based on their own experiences and will assist the Director of Geology & Geophysics with project oversight.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop technical and commercial understanding of acquisition focus areas, bringing in experience from other plays to help develop different approaches to existing fields/plays.
- Motivated, passionate, collaborative team member that helps to drive further collaboration between the different technical teams in all regards but especially regarding acquisition evaluations.
- Provide routine geological / geophysical and administrative support to subsurface acquisition evaluation and development activities.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy to analyze diverse geologic data sets, develop targets, design and present programs, and execute exploration work, from early-stage reconnaissance to advanced drilling.
- Write detailed technical reports, create figures, and present data to a variety of audiences.
- Assist team with staying up to speed on industry technological advancements and new research developments.
- Execute all projects with the upmost technical rigor with a constant focus of the economic impact to the organization.
- Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.

- Effectively integrate technical data to provide the basis for effective reservoir characterization, exploration, and prospect development.

- Proficiency in GeoGraphix.
- Strong experience in evaluating and developing unconventional reservoirs.
- Proficiency with horizontal planning, development and geo-steering.
- Develop large scale geologic model integrating petrophysical, engineering, geochemical, geophysical, and geological data to better frame play concepts.
- Work in a fast-paced and diverse environment with varying degrees of direction; work and learn independently.
- Effectively manage multiple concurrent projects, timelines, and stakeholders.
- Work in a small-company environment in a very hands-on role, performing reports and analyses as needed.
- Lead and coordinate a cross-functional team through the evaluation and execution phases of transactions.

- M.S. Geology or equivalent relevant experience.
- 10 years relevant experience in Oil and Gas Exploration & Production (E&P).
- Previous experience evaluating acquisition opportunities with technical rigor.
- 5+ years’ experience with an E&P Company engaged in unconventional resource development.- Exploration experience and prospect generation.
- Strong petrophysical background.
- Leadership/mentoring experience.
- Proficiency in Kingdom and seismic interpretation.
- Individual contributor with impact on department and company.
- Work in a climate-controlled office and routinely use standard office equipment.
