Job Summary

Firefly Metals is seeking a Senior Exploration Geologist to lead and execute mineral exploration programs focused on copper and gold rich VMS deposits in the Baie Verte region of Newfoundland and Labrador. This role is a senior technical role which involves hands-on technical work, field leadership, and direct contribution to our exploration strategy, working closely with the VP Exploration and external consultants.

Qualifications & Experience

- BSc in Geology or Earth Sciences (MSc preferred) - 8+ years of mineral exploration experience, including drill program management

- Strong understanding of VMS deposit models, particularly copper- and gold-rich systems

- Demonstrated experience in target generation and project advancement

- Experience planning, supervising, and interpreting ground and airborne geophysical surveys

- Proficiency with industry-standard geological, modeling, and GIS software (LeapFrog & QGIS)

- Valid driver’s license and willingness to work on a 2-week on / 2-week off rotation

Key Responsibilities

- Lead by example in health, safety, and environmental performance, ensuring all exploration activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices

- Promote a strong safety culture in the field, including hazard identification, risk mitigation, and daily safety communications

- Design, manage, and execute exploration programs including geological mapping, sampling, geophysical surveys and interpretation, and drilling

- Lead field programs on a rotational basis and supervise geologists, technicians, and contractors

- Integrate geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets to generate and refine VMS exploration targets

- Oversee QA/QC procedures for sampling, assay, and data management

- Prepare technical reports, internal memoranda, and presentations for management and partners

- Contribute to exploration budgets, schedules, and work programs

- Liaise with consultants, laboratories, regulators, and local stakeholders as required
