Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland.
Reporting to the Deputy Manager, Technical Services, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
- Conduct technical assessments of geological data, mine plans, and operational metrics; perform trade‑off analyses for mining methods and equipment selections to enhance operational efficiency.
- Advise on resource allocation, project scheduling, and risk mitigation strategies while working with operations teams to establish scopes of work and develop contractor schedules.
- Collaborate with geology, surveying, environmental, and operations teams to ensure engineering projects are aligned with B2Gold Nunavut’s objectives.
- Develop, manage, and maintain a comprehensive register of all mine permits and regulatory approvals, while preparing, coordinating, and submitting high quality permit applications to regulatory bodies.
- Lead and contribute to technical reviews of permit submission documents to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance, and oversee ongoing adherence to company policies, health and safety requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain proactive, consistent communication with corporate engineering teams and regulatory authorities to support mining activities and ensure clarity around requirements.
- Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert on mining regulations for both underground and open‑pit operations, while advancing B2Gold’s permitting strategy to align timelines with planned mining activities and operational objectives.
- Seven (7) years of open pit and underground metals mining experience—including two (2) years overseeing Engineers, Engineers‑in‑Training (EITs), and engineering technologists, and experience in mine planning, geotechnical, and ventilation engineering.
- Bachelor's degree (B.Eng) in mining or geotechnical engineering, or a related discipline, as determined by the company.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and membership in the Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist (NAPEG) or ability to obtain same.
- Exposure to Canadian mining regulatory processes, preferably in Nunavut and Northwest Territories.
- Strong knowledge, practice, and understanding of mine design, operations, safety, and environmental considerations.
For informational purposes, the annual salary for this role is $180,000.00
