- The Senior Mine Engineer will provide medium-term mine designs and schedules to achieve and optimize the mine’s production targets.
- They will identify mid-range projects and critical issues and develop solutions proactively.
- They will also support the supervision and growth of members in the engineering group through performance review, training, guidance, and mentoring to reach their maximum potential.
- They will oversee site short-range plans and implementation, as well as ensure the ground control management plan is followed.

- Provide medium-term mine designs and schedules to achieve and optimize the mine’s production targets.
- Support medium and long-range planning project management with consultants; translate into short and mid-range plans.
- As part of the annual planning cycle, the Senior Mine Engineer is responsible to ensure short-range (0-12 Month) mine plans are developed and implemented, including drill and blast planning and survey control.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement in safety by reviewing existing engineering designs and new designs,
- Oversee site technology programs are working and reporting data such as fleet management systems, radar and equipment GPS.
- Review plans and assist in site compliance for regulatory and Company policies, procedures and standards,
- Promote and adhere to Company environmental and sustainability policies
- Provide supporting leadership to open pit engineering team in a safe and efficient manner to achieve departmental and corporate business objectives
- Responsible for monthly Engineering department deliverables:
- o Month Plan/Weekly Plan
- o Month End Reporting
- o Compliance to Plan Tracking and Reporting
- o Ground Control Reports
- Support yearly budget and company business planning exercise,
- Liaise with geotechnical consultants and incorporate guidance into mine plan,
- Provide guidance to pit operations to maximize production, plan their activities and accurately measure key mining parameters,
- Manage consultants and contractors on engineering projects,
- Contribute to the preparation of engineering studies,
- Mentor and coach Mine and Geological Engineer
- Provide support when required for mine surveying and sampling
- Prioritize and complete tasks accurately as to specifications as assigned by direct supervisor within required timeframes.
- Proactively identify and address hazards before they arise as issues.
- Be punctual to work and all required site meetings.
- Undertake other duties as lawfully instructed

- Conduct the role required pre-shift inspections ensuring your safety and the safety of others in your work area.
- Complete all relevant SOP’s
- Complete and conduct JHA’s
- A Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or equivalent engineering degree.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of mine operation and engineering experience in open pit mining,
- Open Pit mine design, mining engineering, mine scheduling, and high level of understanding of open pit mining activities.
- Knowledge of mine planning software, specifically Hexagon®, is an asset.
- Knowledge of cash flow modelling techniques and mineral economics is an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with spreadsheet manipulation in Excel.
- Be creative, not only use past practices but promote new ways of doing things to maximize the value of our mineral resources.
