The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are adding a Senior Manager, People Technology to our growing Human Resources division in Seattle, WA. The Senior Manager of People Technology, oversees key HR systems, including HRIS, LMS, and ATS, ensuring seamless integration of technology solutions that align with McKinstry’s People Strategy, as well as maintenance & enhancement of HR data governance & security. You will lead People Technology initiatives, partnering with business stakeholders to identify and implement process enhancements and system improvements. You will provide direct and/or indirect leadership and mentorship to HR Reporting & Systems Specialists and support the Director of People Analytics and Technology in driving successful project execution. Additional responsibilities include:
Strategy & Vision
•Develop and champion the long-term vision and roadmap for McKinstry’s People Technology in alignment with the company’s broader People Strategy.
•Communicate system architecture, strategy, and priorities to HR, IT, Finance, and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency.
Business Partnership & Requirement Definition
•Collaborate with People team leaders to understand business needs, pain points, and desired outcomes.
•Translate complex needs into clear, actionable problem statements and solution requirements using agile delivery principles.
Technical & Project Leadership
•Provide hands-on leadership in the evaluation, selection, implementation, and optimization of People Technology (with emphasis on Workday).
•Lead cross-functional technology projects from inception through execution, ensuring milestones, budgets, and quality standards are met.
•Maintain ownership in partnership with Director of PA & Tech of the People Technology strategy & roadmap and ensure it reflects business priorities.
Team Leadership
•Lead, mentor, and coach a team of HR Systems Analysts & Reporting Specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
•Create development plans and provide continuous learning opportunities to grow technical and professional skills across the team.
Collaboration&Communication
•Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams, translating complex system capabilities into business-relevant solutions.
•Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
System Optimization & Innovation
•Stay current with HR technology trends and the Workday ecosystem to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
•Recommend and implement system enhancements that support automation, self-service, and process efficiency.
Change Management & Adoption
•Lead change management and user adoption efforts related to system upgrades and process changes, including communication, training, and support strategies.
•Look for opportunities for both HR and Manager/Employees to optimize Workday for both self-service reporting needs, and/or enhanced self-service of defined Workday tasks
•Create opportunities to reduce burden of reactive ticket responses (ServiceNow) on HR & IT management via a clearer decision tree of subject matter resolution
Budget & Vendor Management
•Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service delivery for third-party system providers.
•Oversee technology budgets and resource allocation related to People Technology initiatives.
What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
•7+ years of HR systems configuration experience required; Workday Pro Certification highly preferred; Jobvite
•7+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with a strong focus on HR technology.
•Proven expertise in all aspects of HR systems administration, including data integrity, system configuration, testing, and issue resolution.
•Demonstrated experience leading and developing direct reports, fostering a high-performing and engaged team environment.
•Bachelor’s degree in Math, Computer Science, Human Resources, or a related field—or equivalent work experience—required.
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio); working knowledge of SharePoint and collaboration tools such as Monday, Teams or Smartsheet preferred.
•Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and system integrity.
•Proven success leading cross-functional technology projects from planning through execution, including stakeholder alignment and change management.
•Strong strategic thinking, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to translate technical solutions into business value.
•Experience collaborating with senior leadership and contributing to HR technology strategy and roadmap development.

The pay range for this position is $99,270 - $169,900 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
