About This Job

About the Company

GFL Environmental Services (“GES”) is a high-growth environmental services company recently carved out of GFL Environmental Inc. Backed by leading private equity sponsors, we deliver liquid waste, industrial cleaning, and soil remediation services across North America. As we build a standalone corporate function, we are investing in the people, processes, and systems needed to support our next phase of growth. This is a unique opportunity to join a lean, high-impact finance team at the ground level and play a meaningful role in shaping how we plan, report, and drive performance and value creation across the organization.

Position Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst, Corporate FP&A will serve as a key member of the corporate finance team, responsible for consolidating financial results across the organization, supporting the budgeting and forecasting process, and delivering high-quality management reporting and analysis to senior leadership. Operating in a dynamic, carve-out environment, this individual will partner with group office functions, regional finance teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment between operational performance and strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate is a curious, proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, build-and-improve setting. They are a natural problem solver who brings strong financial modeling skills, an eye for process improvement, and the ability to present financial data in a clear and concise manner to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

- Support the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasts, ensuring alignment with corporate strategic goals and private equity reporting requirements

- Coordinate forecasting timelines and templates with business units; validate submissions and consolidate the monthly and quarterly forecast

- Track planning assumptions and collaborate with regional finance, accounting, treasury, and tax to ensure consistency across models

Consolidation & Management Reporting

- Consolidate monthly and quarterly operating and financial results at the group level

- Prepare management reporting packages including P&L analysis, bridges, trend commentary, KPI dashboards, and cash flow reporting for executive leadership and the board

- Deliver in-depth variance analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast), identifying key drivers, risks, and opportunities

- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all financial data used for reporting and decision support

Financial Modeling & Analysis

- Build and maintain driver-based corporate financial models to support scenario planning (base / upside / downside), long-range planning, and strategic initiatives

- Perform detailed analysis of cost drivers, margins, and working capital

- Support financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence efforts related to potential acquisitions, divestitures, or new business ventures as they arise

Business Partnering & Cross-Functional Support

- Serve as the FP&A business partner for group office functions (HR, IT, Finance, etc.), supporting them through the budgeting and forecasting cycle

- Partner with financial reporting / controllership and regional finance teams to align assumptions, reflect changes promptly, and ensure reporting ties to the general ledger

- Collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders to communicate guidelines, requirements, and timelines for planning inputs

Process Improvement and Documentation

- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline FP&A processes, standardize planning templates, and automate recurring reporting and analysis

- Ensure all processes are well-documented with appropriate controls in place, particularly important in a carve-out / transition environment

- Maintain the capex pipeline and actuals-vs-plan roll-ups; reflect timing changes in forecast updates

Planning Systems & Data Management (IBM Planning Analytics / TM1)

- Load and validate actuals, budget, and forecast data into TM1/PAx on a recurring basis

- Maintain hierarchies, dimensions, and metadata to reflect the current organizational structure

- Build and maintain views, reports, and dashboards to support planning and reporting cycles

- Partner with IT on system enhancements, automation, and troubleshooting data discrepancies

Presentations & Ad Hoc Projects

- Create clear, insightful presentations and schedules to summarize analyses and facilitate decision-making for senior management, the board, and PE sponsors

- Support ad hoc strategic projects including post-merger integration, carve-out transition activities, and competitive / market analysis as required

Qualifications

Required

- 2–5 years in FP&A or corporate finance with ownership of forecast/budget cycles.

- Proficiency with IBM Planning Analytics (TM1/PAx) and strong Excel skills for cube-driven templates, consolidation, and scenario modeling.

- Demonstrated ability to produce clear management reporting (variance bridges, trend analysis, concise commentary).

- Comfortable coordinating regional/business inputs and driving timelines in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience reconciling FP&A outputs to ERP/GL data in partnership with Controllership.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and data integrity

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment

What We Offer

- A high-visibility role with direct exposure to senior leadership and PE sponsors

- The opportunity to build foundational FP&A processes from the ground up in a carve-out environment

- Competitive compensation, benefits, and growth potential within a rapidly evolving organization

- A collaborative, entrepreneurial culture where your contributions will have an immediate and tangible impact
