Senior Automation Technician – Controls & PLC

Responsibilities and Duties

- Safely and efficiently troubleshoots electrical systems that includes but are not restricted to PLC troubleshooting & repair, drive troubleshooting & repair, and instrumentation & controls.

- Develop control narratives and build from scratch custom PLC, HMI and VFD programs for various projects.

- Perform commissioning of well sites including configuration of instrumentation, point to point checks, and testing of kills.

- Provides training in automation systems and software and completes additional training as required by the company.

- Engage with client’s automation teams to plan and develop custom automation programming for well pads.

- Support all projects as assigned.

Qualifications

- Experienced and knowledgeable in automation programming with a preference in Allen Bradley

- Ability to configure and test all instrumentation, VFDs, and other standard well pad equipment, develop and tune PID loops.

- Thorough ability and knowledge in reason behind programs (processer and program relation, flows, event-based vs time-based requirements, scan times, program faults and errors, intervals)

- Understanding and ability to utilize AOI’s, UDT’s, and most controller instruction types

- Understanding of proper use and function of Ladder Logic, Function Block, Sequential Function Block, and Structured Text.

- Ability to configure, design and implement communication systems (radio, ethernet, Modbus)

- Integration ability of multiple branded systems into one control system.

- Ability to design and build intuitive animated and functional HMI displays that properly reflect the facility and its requirements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $58.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50 – 70 per week
