How You Can Make an Impact
The Safety, Health & Claims (SH&C) Coordinator is responsible for managing self-insurance and Workers’ Compensation claims, coordinating modified duty returns, and maintaining OSHA and injury records. This role supports audits, incident investigations, safety meetings, and ensures the completion of corrective actions. The Coordinator gathers and analyzes safety data, monitors PPE usage, and ensures compliance with safety laws and environmental regulations. As the lead ISN Administrator, they coordinate compliance efforts and support the creation and distribution of safety policies and training. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to support both field and office teams.
How You Will Contribute
•Manage self-insurance claims. Evaluate the legitimacy, scope, and severity of claims to determine whether to handle internally or submit to an external insurance provider. Ensure all claims are resolved efficiently and in alignment with company standards and core values.
•Gather and analyze data on manhours, incidents, safety observations, and PPE usage to identify trends and support proactive safety initiatives.
•Lead administrative support in the preparation and facilitation of audits, incident investigations, and various safety-related meetings. Ensure all documentation is accurate and well-organized.
•Maintain open and effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding safety, health, and claims-related matters.
•Track and ensure timely completion of Corrective Actions associated with Improvement Opportunities (IPOs) and Causal Evaluations (CEs).
•Act as the lead ISN Administrator, coordinating with internal departments to maintain compliance and ensure the company retains a top-tier status.
•Independently manage injury, illness, and Workers’ Compensation cases. Coordinate the return-to-work process for injured employees on modified duty.
•Assist in maintaining accurate OSHA logs and injury records. Ensure timely submission of all mandatory and annual reporting requirements.
•Become a Subject Matter Expert in safety laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Serve as a reliable resource for all MGE Underground employees.
•Support the creation, revision, and appropriate distribution of Safety, Health & Compliance (S, H & C) policies, procedures, and training materials.
•Assist in tracking, inspections, and permit submissions to maintain environmental and regulatory compliance with the Department of Industrial Relations.
•Represent the Safety Department and MGE Underground positively and professionally in all interactions.
•Provide support for various tasks, projects, and assignments related to both field and office operations, as delegated by Safety Managers and/or Directors.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table
•Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with claimants through both verbal and written correspondence.
•Strong ability to identify issues and deliver timely, practical solutions.
•Approach claimant concerns with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
•Maintains accuracy in all information provided and ensures timely follow-up on inquiries.
•Manages time efficiently to balance multiple claimant interactions and administrative responsibilities.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
•Willing and able to travel as needed, including overnight stays averaging two nights; duration may vary based on job or project requirements.
Your Prior Experience
•Required: High School Diploma or GED
•Required: Valid Class C Driver’s License; clean driving record
•Required: Minimum 3 years of administrative and customer service experience.
•Occupational Health & Safety Degree, diploma, or certificate.
Our Competitive Package
Pay: $69,000 - $80,000 annually
This pay range is our competitive compensation at the time of this job posting. Your pay will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and applicable knowledge.
