Position Purpose: Responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the safety and occupational health component of personnel, materials, equipment, and environments to achieve safety effectiveness for the Utility Division. Assist regional Safety representatives, Project Managers, Project Superintendents, and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practices and conditions.
§ Assists with new hire general safety orientation.
§ Coordinates, conducts and documents safety meetings and on-site safety assessments.
§ Assists management in preparing safety policies and procedures; provides support in implementing these policies and procedures.
§ Ensures that federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules are observed.
§ Works with the Safety Department and ensures that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met.
§ Provides safety technical support and education for supervisors and employees.
§ Promotes proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions.
§ Monitors safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety improvement.
§ Assists and documents incident investigations to include a detailed RCA, sharing of lessons learned, communicating next steps and tracking associated action items.
§ Working knowledge of 29 CFR OSHA 1926 Construction Industry Regulations.
§ Proven communication, organizational, presentation and analytical skills.
§ Bachelor’s Degree Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management preferred, or related field equivalent experience will be considered.
§ 1-3 years of construction safety experience preferred.
§ Must be able to remain standing approximately 50% of the time.
§ The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
