JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
The health and safety representative's responsibility is to advocate for employee health and safety within the workplace, assist in planning, developing, and coordinating the safety and health component of personnel, materials, equipment, and environments to help achieve ZERO Incidents within the workplace safety performance, represent their concerns to management, and work to create a safer environment. They investigate hazards, promote safety awareness, and often assist with accident prevention and investigation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Assist in preparing safety policies and procedures; provide support in implementing these policies and procedures.
•Ensures that federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules are observed.
•Ensures that OSHA and MSHA reporting requirements are met.
•Monitors activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment
•Assists in the activities of the safety committee by providing technical and administrative support.
•Communicate and work with key people within the company.
•Identify workplace hazards through performing safety inspections.
•Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and other employee-completed documentations as part of the investigation.
•Work with the EHS manager to develop employee Health and safety training programs, maintain training records, and provide training to employees.
•Percentage in the Field is 80%, and Desk paperwork is 20%, which can change depending on the task.
•Will be on/call 24/7 as needed.
•Complete ride along with drivers and assist in Driver training/coaching.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Performs other related duties, as required.
•Interface with clerical personnel in posting the OSHA log, MSHA, and other administrative work.
•Train on MSHA 30 CFR Part 46.
•Assist EHS managers with safety meeting materials and presenting as needed.
•Complete monthly plant inspections at all ready mix and aggregate sites.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•This role operates at various locations and job sites where conditions include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
•Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and properly
use Centex Materials LLC-approved personal protective equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, respirators.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
•Understand and follow instructions.
•A comparable combination of education and experience in a Safety industry company will be considered.
•Strong persuasive skills in dealing with top management, managers, and supervisors.
•Organize safety and occupational health material into lesson plans and effectively present it to managers and the safety committee.
•Learn the methods and practices used in the pits and batch plants.
•Perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
•Must have basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
•Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask.
•Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
•Strong basic math skills.
•The ability to identify potential hazards in the workplace and assess the associated risks.
•Implementing control measures to mitigate identified risks.
•Investigating accidents and incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
•Developing and delivering safety training programs to educate employees on safety procedures and regulations.
•Ensuring that the workplace complies with relevant health and safety regulations.
