The Safety and Regulatory Compliance Coordinator is responsible for implementing, coordinating, and improving the regulatory compliance program for Northeastern REMC. This position ensures adherence to federal, state, and local safety regulations—particularly OSHA standards—and oversees all related documentation, training, and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Program Management, or a related field. Equivalent education/experience may be considered.
- Valid driver’s license.
- 3-5 years of safety and regulatory compliance experience, preferably in the utility or electric cooperative industry.
- Certified Safety Professional within 3 years.
- Expert in National Electric Safety Code. Adheres to the safety rules stated in the Northeastern REMC Safety Manual.
- Familiarity with OSHA, SPCC, HazCom, DOT, MUTCD, EPA, and other applicable industry safety compliance standards.
- Demonstrate general knowledge of electric distribution operations, policies, products, and services.
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices and utility hazards.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to effectively train and influence employees at all levels.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail in record keeping and reporting.
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines independently.
- Interact professionally with all organizations associated with the NREMC.

- Improve and maintain a safety program for employees.
- Maintain safety compliance program records.
- Maintains knowledge of OSHA regulations and implements compliance program.
- Fulfill requirements of NRECA Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program.
- Prepare and submit required reports to internal leadership and external agencies.
- Conduct regular site inspections, jobsite audits, and facility walk-throughs.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct regular training and safety committee meetings.
- Lead, review, and document investigations of accidents, near misses, and property damage incidents. Prepare root cause analyses and corrective action plans.
- Perform regular safety audits, inspections, and job-site observations to identify risks and hazards. Recommend corrective actions and verify resolution.
- Oversee insulated tools, grounds, and PPE testing program. Continually keep all equipment and PPE compliant for current and future regulations and/or laws.
- Develop and present electricity safety programs that spread awareness of potential dangers, use, and theory of electricity.

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity and precise overall motor skills are needed. Exposure to outdoor environments, including inclement weather conditions such as heat, humidity, rain, and cold.
Full-time hours that occur regularly in business operating hours of Monday- Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM, and occasionally after normal business hours. Primarily work inside the office; however, there is some outside work. Can travel to meetings, including overnight, outside of NREMC service area.
