Summary/Objective
The Landman works closely with staff, mineral owners, operators, attorneys, as well as state and government agencies to ensure proper maintenance of ownership records on new and/or existing wells.
The Landman will be responsible for an asset area and will coordinate with teams and/or technical professionals to ensure the company objectives and goals are met.
This position requires a sound understanding of the Texas oil and gas industry, standard oil and gas leases, agreements, conveyance documents, division orders and other legal forms of title documentation.
Essential Functions

1. Research and analyze leases, deeds, contracts, and other ownership details to assist and ensure accurate information and appropriate communication within the organization.
2. Conduct research and analyze the production history of oil and gas wells to assess its impact on the perpetuation of oil and gas leases.
3. Assist with land-related questions and concerns to generate standard periodic reports on ownership, payment and/or acreage information.
4. Assist with title issues related to asset acquisitions and divestitures, including preparation and analysis of division orders/transfer orders, curative instruments, deeds, conveyances, affidavits, and any and all land related documents.
5. Perform in-house due diligence on assets, working with internal and external parties to clear and cure title.
6. Update and maintain weekly and monthly workflow reports and progress reports to monitor compliance with land policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is an individual contributor to the department and is responsible for their individual performance management within that department. This position may potentially supervise other department employees to support future workflow.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. There is a reasonable expectation of employees to check their messages via electronic media after normal work hours.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Energy Management, Petroleum Land Management, Business Administration, or related field.
2. Four (4) to six (6) years of progressive land experience
3. At least four (4) years of demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office, (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
4. High-level understanding of Land and exploration and production issues
5. Strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills
Preferred Education and Experience
1. AAPL membership
2. Registered Landman, Registered Professional Landman or Certified Professional Landman certification preferred.
