The Security & Safety Compliance Officer oversees all security functions and responsibilities.
- Maintaining records relating to all safety and security activities.
- Developing, implementing, and overseeing Asarco safety and security procedures and standards of performance that most effectively protects the Company's assets.
- Administering the safety and security budget and controlling costs related to security labor and subcontractor activities.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to make presentations and speak effectively before groups including employees, supervisors, managers, and contractors.
- Perform work site inspections, conduct safety audits, develop comprehensive safety audit programs.
- Lead Safety discussions with numerous groups with various safety concerns.
- Develop comprehensive and more selective (as needed) safety programs for Supervisors.
- Train and educate all employees with innovative teaching methods.
- Conduct accident investigations and train Supervisors to do same.
- Benchmark Safety programs
- Review existing company safety standards, policies, procedures and make needed recommendations
- Oversee contracted security officers, including all related activities, as per the Master Service Agreement.
- Coordinating and communicating with outside fire/rescue, security and law enforcement agencies as needed.
- Overseeing subcontractor activities including janitorial/camera surveillance services and pest control.
- Perform risk assessments
- Facilitate safety meetings, joint management safety committee
- The job requires interfacing with regulatory authorities, staff, and employees.
- Perform additional health and safety activities as assigned
- Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
- Good knowledge of Federal and State mining regulations.
- Understand and execute Corporate policies and procedures regarding security.
- The ability to work with people, be diplomatic and persuasive, credible and innovative is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills in developing consensus building.
- Applicant must have good communications skills (oral and written).
- Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities.
- Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Must be proficient with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Experience with Noise and Air monitoring/measuring tools (desired).
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator and able to obtain a satisfactory fit test for respirators.
- Must be able to walk over rough terrain, sit, climb ladders and stairs, squat, kneel for extended periods of time. Work environment is outdoors and indoors working at extreme temperatures, weather conditions and may be exposed to chemicals and explosives.
- High School Diploma/ General Education Diploma (GED)
- Bachelor's degree in safety engineering or equivalent working experience desired.
- MSH Experienced Miner Certification.
- MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) Instructor Certificate (preferred).
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
- Working knowledge of 30 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Metal Mining and the Mining Code of the State of Arizona
- Prior Security Management of law enforcement experience preferred.
- AZ Guard Card preferred.
- This job requires training or instruction in environmental Awareness.
- This job requires training or instruction in Safety & Health awareness including completion of the appropriate OSHA and/or MSHA training.
- English language fluency.
- At least CEFR B2 - Upper Intermediate: Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.
