What’s The Role

Shell is seeking a Routine Maintenance Manager for its Refinery, Chemical, & Distribution (RCD) assets (also known internally as Routine Maintenance Supervisor RCD) to join its team at Scotford.

The Routine Maintenance Supervisor is a member of the RCD Asset Leadership Team and is accountable for developing and delivering the competitive routine maintenance plan for the asset. This role ensures alignment of objectives between Production and Maintenance to enable safe, effective, and efficient maintenance execution, resulting in reliable assets in accordance with Global Maintenance Execution (ME) standards.

This role manages a team of Maintenance Team Leads (MTLs) who handle day-to-day execution, while the supervisor focuses on longer-term strategic planning, alignment, and prioritization. The goal is to deliver or exceed targets related to cost, reliability, and production, in alignment with the Asset’s 90-day outlook.

Accountabilities:

- Demonstrate visible safety leadership; conduct permit-to-work audits; perform planned inspections

- Ensure and enhance maintenance execution process compliance

- Support project commissioning activities in the area and to align priorities between routine and Non-Routine Maintenance Execution (i.e. Major Maintenance, Turnarounds)

- Define and deliver maintenance improvement initiatives

- Coordinate with the Excellence and Assurance group to ensure adequate work packs exist for MTLs and craft personnel

- Responsible for the Area Maintenance budget, including developing the annual budget for the assigned PU; conducting weekly and monthly reviews of spend against the budget and preparing forecasts; managing month-end accruals and producing accurate Latest Estimates (LE)

- Develop a cost focused team; Coordinate with the Production and Engineering teams to adjust and minimize future costs, maintaining budget; Managing unexpected production incidents and minimizing Maintenance budget impact

- Serve as the Area Maintenance interface with other departments to manage asset incidents and activities, including ensuring a functional call-out and off-shift coverage system exists to meet business requirements

- Adjust Contract manpower requirements within own area

- Accountable to ensure the right people are in place, possessing the right competencies at the right times to maintain the asset

- Accountable for the performance of contractors working in the area

- Ensure area alignment with Major Maintenance & Construction Supervisors to align on priorities and resources working within the asset

- Perform duties as a reserve worker when required


What You Bring

- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

- Must be an Engineer, Technologist, or Journeyman

- At least 10 years of maintenance experience in upgrading, refining, or other heavy industries, along with 5 years of leadership experience managing hourly craft personnel and coordinating multi-craft maintenance or projects

- Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

- Experience with collective bargaining agreements is considered an asset

- Skilled in leadership, influencing, negotiating, and decision-making; able to effectively bring groups together and coordinate action plans to drive resolution

- Ability to manage evolving priorities while meeting multiple commitments in a timely manner

- Effective communication, presentation and motivational skills

- Experience developing and managing budgets
