Regional Design Engineer

Responsible for FC bit product development for assigned region(s). Lead engineering tasks, mentor and develop RDEs. Orchestrate Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing and Product Line to develop targeted bit solutions in a cost effective and efficient manner for our customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage and coordinate the product development for assigned region(s)

- Track all of region’s EMS Tasks

- Primary approver and gate keeper for region’s design philosphy

- Visit region as required

- Consider STD cost of new part ids, reducing where feasible keeping application suitability

- Keep Working Capital in mind with any field enquiries/requests

- Technical support region and lower level RDEs

- Mentor, support and guide lower level RDE design activities

- Competence Assessor for design aspects for lower level RDEs

- Technical design contact for region

- Present to key customers/clients

- Design input for critical field failure analyses

- Perform other work related tasks as assigned.

- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

- Regional Design for ReedHycalog

- Author and update design guidelines, philosophy & procedures

- Support roll out of new technology & techniques

- Project lead for assigned long term projects

- Support software development team in testing and direction of new programs/systems

- Promote design for repair and manufacture

- Competence Assessor for lower level RDE for all design related topics

- Support / author technical publications

- Maintains and expands on current knowledge of industry trends and new technologies

- Knowledgeable of competitive products and competitor patents

- Cover for Regional Design Engineering Manager when absent

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

- BS or advanced degree in Engineering / scientific discipline

- 10 years of related design and operations experience

- Accreditation from any regulatory professional organizations as required by law
