Westpro Machinery Inc. is an innovative Canadian company that designs and manufactures mineral processing equipment for customers worldwide. For 39 years, Westpro has provided customized process technology solutions for the mining, wastewater and aggregate industries. Westpro also develops turnkey modular process plants with complete process design and equipment packages. Through Westpro's Contract Services Division, the company provides full equipment service including manufacturing, installation, commissioning, inspection, and spare parts.
Westpro has an immediate opening for an INTERMEDIATE MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER at our Vernon, BC office. The ideal candidate has experience in mechanical design, hydraulic, electrical, instrumentation and controls.
· Design mineral processing, wastewater, and aggregate equipment.
· Work with the design, processing, and production teams to provide the best technically developed product to meet the requirements.
· Create 3D models of assemblies, components, weldments, machined parts, and castings.
· Evaluate the material and surface coating options for manufacturability and longevity.
· Generate detailed drawings following internal and industrial standards.
· Collaborate with the sales team to prepare equipment estimates for quotation.
· Complete BOMs, project summaries, GAs, P&IDs, PFDs, spare parts lists, engineering datasheets, product manuals, components specifications, and internal standards.
· Work directly with vendors for part specifications and component selection.
· Travel to domestic and global suppliers for pre-inspection, inspection and evaluation.
· Apply engineering principles to analyze designs for structural integrity, reliability, manufacturability, and performance.
· Determine solutions to engineering and manufacturing issues as they arise.
· Complete root cause analysis investigations and implement field resolutions.
· Travel to customer sites to support installation, commissioning, and inspections.
· Professional Engineering (P.Eng) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) an asset.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy machinery design in mining, construction or related industries.
· Advanced skill level in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
· Proficient with Word, Excel, and other Office programs.
· A versatile, highly motivated self-starter, able to plan, organize and lead projects.
· Machine shop, and on-site field experience is an asset.
· Experience with fluid power, electrical, instrumental, and control is an asset.
