Position Summary:
Quality Technician is responsible for performing daily receiving (outsourced processes), in- process inspections, first piece, F.A.I.R., and final inspections in accordance with Quality Process Control Plans, Work Instructions and Customer Requirements. Position will also be required to control, inspect, and maintain all internal metrology tools and arrange for outsourcing of critical metrology calibrations as required. Position is also responsible for extensive routine filing and maintenance of all process certifications and inspection results.
The ideal candidate must be highly proficient and experienced in the use of Standard Measuring Test Equipment (CMM, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, etc.). A self-starter, be able to multi-task across multiple assigned duties, manage unplanned events and take advantage of opportunities and events to achieve results that exceed expectations. This individual must be able to communicate with team members, demonstrate problem solving skills, critical thinking, and prudent decision-making skills.
1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings, specifications, geometric dimensioning, and tolerances (GD&T) per ANSI/ASME Y 14.5.
•Perform First Article inspection of machined components by correctly interpreting drawings and customer quality requirements.
•Conduct inspection of raw materials, in-process machined components and finished goods using a variety of inspection and measurement tools such as CMM, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, etc.
•Interpret and evaluate inspection results for compliance to required specifications.
•Receive, review and file process data and reports (process certifications, inspection reports, calibration records etc.). Review for accuracy and completeness to ensure that all tests are performed according to established requirements.
•Maintain calibration records in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements.
•Collect and maintain data pertaining to core Quality Management process metrics.
•Participate in nonconformance investigations and potential corrective actions.
•Issuing of nonconformance reports and Certificates of Conformance.
•Participate in internal and external assessments and audits as required.
•Ensure lab cleanliness and safety standards are maintained.
2. Physical Requirements
•Must be able to sit or stand and walk for extended periods of time.
•Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
•Fulltime onsite position (No remote options).
3. Background/Experience
•Must be a “US citizen” as defined by the US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR data.
•Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
•Experience with MS Excel required. Proficient with MS Office.
•Experienced with SolidWorks and PC-DMIS preferred.
•Ability to read mechanical micrometers within +/- 0.0001”.
•Minimum 7 years’ experience in machining and fabrication environment.
•Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 preferred.
