APEL Extrusions Limited is an independent extruder, finisher and fabricator of aluminum profiles servicing the commercial, residential and industrial markets of Western Canada. Situated in Calgary, Canada, APEL Extrusions occupies 110,000 square feet of modern manufacturing space employing approximately 110 people.
The Position:
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Technician’s primary responsibility is to identify, analyze and report on materials, processes and products to ensure they meet customers’ and internal quality standards. APEL runs 24-hour operations, operating 7 days per week. Given 24-hour operations, shift rotation is a requirement for this position.
Main duties are to:
•Ensure outgoing finished products meet quality standards through Quality Assurance inspection and audit process.
•Conduct dimensional testing and visual examinations as per predefined audit criteria and maintain related records.
•Ensure adherence to Quality Plans.
•Perform data and trend analysis to provide feedback to Operations for continuous improvement.
•·Facilitate, clarify and educate Quality Standards to production personnel.
•Ensure rework materials meet defined specifications.
•Effectively communicate customer complaints and internal quality issues to production personnel.
•Investigate and work with APEL employees to reduce/eliminate defects & institute corrective actions.
•Facilitate the root cause analysis process when required as per documented procedure.
•Perform First Piece evaluation on new product based on applicable documentation.
•Conduct chemical analysis as documented in the Quality System.
•Perform testing equipment verifications.
•Assist in establishing APEL Quality System and its promotion to production personnel.
•Represent and promote our customers’ expectations regarding quality within our facility.
•Conduct other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
•The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of manufacturing experience with a minimum of 2-year experience in a Quality related role.
•Post secondary education (Engineer-In-Training) or skilled trade in manufacturing, quality, or industrial sector would be beneficial.
•Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
•Highly self-motivated and organized.
•Computer literate, capable of working with MS Office tools.
•Flexibility on work schedules to meet Company’s requirements.
