Job Summary: Bingham & Taylor, an industry leader for 175 years, is seeking a skilled Quality Technician to join our dynamic team in Culpeper. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting, documenting, and communicating results of testing on production parts, and outsourced raw materials/parts. The ideal candidate will also conduct daily tests in the melt and sand lab, as well as perform and maintain the testing equipment calibration record plant-wide. These duties will be performed within safety, quality, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Conduct regular quality tests for foundry process control and maintain the process. Conduct necessary steps to get the process in control if needed.

· Analyze quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management or staff.

· Perform sand test using different sand testing equipment.

· Perform tests on scarp and metal to make sure that final product is within required metal chemistry using spectrometer, tensile machine, hardness tester and more.

· Perform FAT (First Article Test) on regular production and maintain the record.

· Collect and analyze production samples to evaluate quality. Based on the evaluation, communicate with production lead to mitigate the issue.

· Communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments.

· Assist in the creation of inspection and testing criteria or procedures.

· Track defects, test results, or other regularly reported quality control data.

· Assist in documenting test procedures, methodologies, or criteria.

· Identify critical points in the manufacturing process and specify sampling procedures to be used at these points.

· Identify quality problems or areas for improvement and recommend solutions to reduce or mitigate the problems.

· Monitor performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.

· Participate in the development of product specifications.

· Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analyses, or quality trends.

· Stop production on foundry engineer’s approval if serious product defects are present.

· Conduct and maintain regular testing equipment calibration record.

· Support Quality and Engineering team to develop ISO 9001 standards and maintain necessary records and documentation.

· Support Engineering team on research and new product development.

Qualifications:

· Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in quality and engineering field.

· 3+ years of experience in a foundry environment.

· Knowledge of casting defects is required.

· Proficient with operating foundry lab equipment like spectrometers, hardness testers, microscopes, tensile machines, sand testers and more.

· Proven track record and working knowledge in the manufacturing industry.

· Basic experience using an ERP system.

· Fluent with basic MS Office software.

· Experience with ISO 9001 quality standards is a plus.
