Perform inspections and tests, quality problem investigation and resolution. Support manufacturing in the production of products that meet specifications. Support the quality management system.
- Lead / assist the manufacturing floor in interpreting quality requirements from prints, published specifications, and by working with engineering to establish standards where no product or vague specification exists.
- Utilize quality tools (capability studies, Gage R&R, basic statistics, control charts and sampling) to improve quality and adjust inspection frequencies as needed.
- Lead/perform daily product verification and assign inspection / test responsibilities.
- Lead / assist root cause analysis and provide closure to action items and corrective action follow up.
- Supports the Quality Manager on ISO9001 document and data control.
- Interact with customers and suppliers on quality issues.
- Develop PPAP sample submissions and required documentation to customers under the direction of the quality manager or quality engineer.
- Review and verify supplier PPAP sample submissions and associated documentation.
- Review and verify supplier corrective action responses.
- Perform ISO9001 QMS audits and support ISO9001 compliance
- Lead / direct suspect product containment activities.
- Lead improvements in plant PPM measures through participating in error proofing and continuous improvement activities.
- Participate in APQP meetings and support AQPQ launch initiatives by performing print reviews, project management under the direction of the quality manager or quality engineer.
- Perform measurement systems analysis on tooling and measurement systems under the direction of the quality manager or quality engineer.
- Limited travel may be required (planned and in emergency situations).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associates degree and at least 7 years of related experience in quality manufacturing setting preferred.
- Experience in ISO/IATF 16949 Quality Management System.
- Ability to prepare dimensional & statistical reports.
- Ability to present data to others.
- Experience in inspection gages/fixtures and methods.
- High level of analytical skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and have a working knowledge of geometric tolerances.
- Familiarity with basic computer skills and file organization.
- Ability to problem solve.
- PPAP / customer experience within the automotive or tuck sector or similar.
- Experience in supporting ISO9001 Quality Systems.
- Experience in developing PPAP's control plans, FMEA's, and flow charts.
- Experience implementing sampling plans and utilizing basic statistics and SPC in a production environment.
- Skilled in blueprint reading, GD&T, and inspection techniques.
- Experience with processes (e.g. machining, welding, forming, assembly), and products.
- Lead inspector / technician experience in quality preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Willingness to work some overtime.
Frequent need to move about inside plant and office designated areas.
Office areas and non temperature-controlled manufacturing work environment with adequate lighting and ventilation. Dust/Debris, oil, and noise.
