Position Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing inspections, verifying dimensional accuracy, ensuring compliance to customer and internal specifications, and supporting continuous quality improvement throughout the production process.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fabrication methods, quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001), and experience with precision measurement tools. You will play a critical role in ensuring our fabricated components meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
•Inspect raw materials, in-process parts, and finished products using precision measurement equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, tape measures)
•Verify conformance to mechanical drawings, fabrication prints, and weld specifications
•Perform dimensional inspections, first article inspections (FAIs), and final product audits
•Document inspection results accurately in accordance with internal and customer requirements
•Report and document nonconformances (NCRs) and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions
•Monitor and enforce compliance with quality standards, work instructions, and ISO procedures
•Work closely with fabrication, welding, and assembly teams to ensure quality is built into every step of the process
•Assist in the calibration and upkeep of inspection tools and gauges
•Support the Quality Manager in conducting internal audits and supplier inspections
•Participate in continuous improvement efforts (5S, Lean, Kaizen) to enhance quality processes and reduce waste
Required Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED required; technical training in quality, manufacturing, or engineering preferred
•2+ years of experience in quality inspection within a fabrication or metalworking environment
•Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, weld symbols, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
•Proficiency with hand-held inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, squares, gage blocks,)
•Ability to accurately read a tape measurer
•Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, AWS D1.1 (weld), or similar
•Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and quality data entry systems
•Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple inspections efficiently
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy and documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with fabrication processes including welding, cutting, bending, or machining
•Certification in quality inspection (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Technician or Inspector) a plus
