POSITION TITLE: Quality Technician, 2nd shift
REPORTS TO: Press Room Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY and KEY OBJECTIVES: Quality Techs are responsible for ensuring that the quality of forged parts meet customer requirements during the production process. They are responsible for keeping scrap to a minimum by completing timely audits and correcting non-conformances.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, JOB DUTIES and COMPETENCIES:
•Measure for “First Piece Approval” when a new work order is entered into a press and ensuring the part(s) meet print requirements
•Measure and enter data for Statistical Process Control
•Operate the Coordinate Measuring Machine
•Audit parts per instructions on the Quality Inspection Standard
•Make judgement decisions that are not specified on the part print (cosmetic)
•Oversee all documents involved in a change-over
•Complete the Job Change Check Sheet & First Piece Approval Check Sheet when a new work order is entered into a press
•Instruct members of press crew(s) in regards to tooling adjustments for First Piece Approval
•Communicate with press crews and notify them of non-conformances and tooling changes
•Fulfill all responsibilities as assigned by the IATF 16949 standard
•Furnace “poke-out” when required
•Monitor and record billet temperatures as required
•Tag and sort-backs of nonconforming product
•Perform layered process audits
•Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATION
•High School diploma required
•Ability to read and interpret blue prints
•Ability to use micrometers, calipers and height gages
•Must possess a high degree of mechanical aptitude
•Understanding of Forging, Machining & Tooling.
•Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of reliability.
