At Apache Oil Company the Purchasing Generalist II is responsible for the procurement of petrochemical supplies and automotive equipment for the resale of products to Apache customers. This role will work directly with the VP of Lubricants, as well as collectively with dispatchers who coordinate the delivery of bulk and package products.
· Supports dispatch and account managers by providing inventory knowledge of products.
· Regularly follows up on supply chain and logistic delays with vendors and suppliers in order to update receipt schedules.
· Works with five major suppliers to meet customer and national account requirements.
· Serves as the primary point of contact for procurement-related questions.
· Builds and maintains relationships with external vendors and internal departments.
- Develops purchasing strategies to ensure consistent inventory.
- Oversees inventory levels by purchasing and supplying products for distribution.
- Determines quantity and timing of inbound vendor deliveries and communicates receipt schedule.
- Coordinates necessary returns of incorrectly procured items.
- Determines the minimum and maximum order and inventory levels for all stock items.
- Negotiate blanket orders.
- Utilizes appropriate company software to repackage bulk ordered items into individual drums and pails to meet customer needs.
- Process purchase orders
- Coordinates with Vice President of Lubricants to monitor inventory and assists with performing semi-annual physical on-site inventories.
- Creates and maintains product codes, adjust inventory, and collaborates with CFO to maintain naming consistency.
- Ensures quality of procured items and promptly addresses non-conformances of products with vendors as they arise.
- Evaluates non-contract vendors based on quality, timeliness, and price.
- Troubleshoots inventory variances from physical inventory to database inventory.
- Follows all safety rules while on the job.
- Report’s accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.
- Completes required and job-related in-services and applies the information as needed.- Maintains up to $7 million in inventory across 100+ bulk items, 2000+ package items and 5000+ ancillary items in order to meet customer demand.
- Uses resources efficiently
- Works collectively with finance department to ensure that invoices are submitted timely.
- Ensures appropriate chain of command approval for contractual expenditures
· High School Diploma or GED equivalency Required
· Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration preferred.
· Certification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Procurement can be accepted in lieu of a degree.

- · Experience in wholesale procurement and or petrochemical distributors preferred.
- · Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to coordinate and drive tasks to completion, to include being comfortable manipulating large and complex spreadsheets without data integrity issues such as data loss, copy/paste errors, filter/sort errors, formatting errors, etc., when assigned.
- · Skilled in problem-solving
- · Skilled at professional verbal and written communications.
- · Minimum typing skill of 45 WPM – preferred
